Killer Luke Mitchell: Fraudster, Convicted Robber & Violent Con Scott C Forbes & His Alleged Threats To Solicitor Graham Mann (Part 275)

Reporter turned MSP Russell Findlay meeting with con-artists Sandra Lean & Scott Forbes outside Scottish Parliament – 15th November 2022

The following is a reproduced article by Russell Findlay for the Sunday Mail dated 29th April 2012

THREATS PROBE LAWYER IS CONVICTED ROBBER

“A lawyer probed by police over threats made to his boss has been revealed as a violent ex con who was jailed for robbery.

Scott Forbes, 46, is accused of sending menacing texts to Graham Mann, 43.

After police were called in it emerged that Forbes has previous convictions for robbery, assault and possessing an offensive weapon.

Stirling University graduate Forbes was a trainee with Mann Solicitors but Mann refused to sign off the first year of his two year traineeship.

A series of texts to Mann’s mobile from several numbers followed that decision.

One stated that “ruin would be met with ruin” and described Mann’s legal colleague Jim Kelly as “your fat partner“.

Another thought to be a reference to the refusal to sign off Forbes’s first year read: “Now for the last time, shut the f*** up and move on and you have until next week to do the right thing.

Mann reported the alleged threats to Central Scotland Police, who are investigating.

Meanwhile, Kelly has raised a civil action against Forbes at Stirling Sheriff Court.

Sheriff William Gilchrist granted an interim interdict which bans Forbes from contacting or threatening Kelly and making false statements about him.

The bust up led to revelations about Forbes’s convictions.

They include a five year jail sentence, later reduced to 30 months, for robbery in 1992.

Others included an assault and robbery conviction in 1989 and possession of an offensive weapon in 2001.

A Law Society of Scotland committee voted by majority to grant his entrance certificate into the profession in 2010 despite his past.

A source said: “It’s quite right that people should be given the chance of rehabilitation but is it really appropriate that a violent ex con should be considered an appropriate person to become a lawyer?

Members of the public would have been completely oblivious about this man’s criminality.

Another text received by Mann threatened that information would be passed to police, HM Revenue & Customs, the Scottish Legal Aid Board and Law Society.

It stated: “Listen you, will you not take a telling? Your emails copied, phone downloaded, files copied. Where you like us to start, police, taxman, legal aid or Society?”

The writ lodged by Kelly accused Forbes of having an “extensive network of criminal associates” and that he is “not a fit and proper person” to be a solicitor.

Forbes, who lives in Stirling, said: “Be careful what you print because Mr Kelly is prone to exaggeration.”

Central Scotland Police said: “We are investigating allegations under the Communications Act involving a 46 year old man.”

The Law Society said: “We have rigorous procedures which are applied to those entering the profession. Each case is decided on its own merits.”

The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

The following statements were made by killer Barry George’s sister Michelle Diskin Bates on Facebook on the 2nd October 2023;

Sister Susan Towler (nee George)

The police knew Barry George was a danger to women and that he was a prolific sexual predator and rapist.

As already stated in Part 3 of this blog series The Ghosting Of Sister Susan & Brother-In-Law Edward Derek Towler, Barry and Michelle’s sister Susan Towler passed away in April 1986 during the early stages of pregnancy.

Caroline Logan

Caroline Logan said Barry George feigned illness in a bid to influence the case and stated;

He may have a degree of control when he feels threatened by a process like a court case.

He may exaggerate to protect himself from a situation in which he feels threatened.

Excerpts by Stephen Wright for the Daily Mail article headed Blonde doctor’s £25,000 to comfort Dando killer dated 29th June 2002

Philip Joseph

Philip Joseph found Barry George far more competent than he made himself out to be to.

A media article stated;

Dr Philip Joseph, another leading psychiatrist who was called by the prosecution, said George was “far more competent” than tests would suggest and capable of lying in police interviews.

While some of his behaviour could be attributed to his epilepsy and cognitive impairment, his stalking of women appeared to stem from an “intense anger” caused by rejection, Dr Joseph said.

Innocence Fraud Killers Barry George & Sion Jenkins, Portsmouth & The Isle Of Wight Holiday & More On Niamh Horan’s Article For Irish Independent & Fantasist Michelle Diskin Bates #Netflix #WhoKilledJillDando? (Part 21)

Killer Barry George & his mother Margaret Bourke
Innocence fraud killer Sion Jenkins

Michelle Diskin Bates Fantastical Storytelling

Niamh Horan, who’s 1st of October 2023 article for the Irish independent was referred to in Part 16 here and Part 17 here, also made the following statements – in which she quoted Michelle Diskin Bates;

Following his acquittal, the family — including George — visited the Isle of Wight for a holiday.

She says her brother moved to Ireland not to escape media attention, but “to escape the police”.

“A horrible thing happened to a 16-year-old girl in the area where we were staying.

She was attacked,” Diskin Bates recalls.

“Weeks later I had gone back to Ireland and the [British] police wanted to speak with Barry.”

Diskin Bates says after the Isle of Wight attack her brother’s solicitor had asked the police if George was a suspect and they had said no.

But then, “the police went to my mother’s home anyway where they thought Barry was staying.

“She said, ‘If you want to know what happened, speak to my daughter.’

Nobody ever came near me, but I had to almost secrete Barry out of the country of his birth and get him into Ireland where he would be safe.”

Niamh Horgan for the Irish Independent article headed ‘My brother was cleared of Jill Dando’s murder, but he won’t be free until the real killer is caught’ dated 1st October 2023

As already stated in Part 20 of this blog series here, Barry George spent the night of the 8th August 2008 in a hotel in London.

On the 9th August 2008 he then travelled to Southsea, which is near Portsmouth with his sister Michelle and mother Margaret, where they met up with innocence fraud killer Sion Jenkins and his wife Tina.

Barry George, his sister and mother then travelled across to the Isle of Wight for around thirteen days, where they stayed in the Farringford house hotel.

Michelle Diskin Bates stated that it was Barry Loveday from Portsmouth university who had recommended Farringford house to her. Michelle stated in 2018;

Barry Loveday had suggested a hotel to me on the Isle of Wight. It was on the other side of the island, furthest away from the ferry ports, but that was not the only reason for the recommendation. He had felt that we would benefit from a little luxury, and also the peace and privacy this hotel complex could provide. It would be the perfect retreat for our little family to start getting to know each other again.

Michelle Diskin Bates from her book Stand Against Injustice published in October 2018

There is no evidence anywhere that Barry George was a suspect in relation to the alleged attack on a 16 year-old girl.

However what there was evidence of – was someone (or more than one person) feeding the media with numerous stories.

Birds Of A Feather

A 30th August 2008 media article stated;

Barry George and Sion Jenkins, both wrongly convicted of two of Britain’s most notorious murders, have struck up an unlikely close friendship.

He had vowed to return to his flat in Fulham, South West London, after wrongly serving seven years in jail.

Mr Jenkins, 50, was sentenced to life in 1998 for the murder of his 13-year-old foster daughter Billie-Jo, who was battered to death with a metal tent spike in the garden of their home in Hastings, East Sussex.

He was released on appeal in 2004. Two retrials failed when neither jury could agree a verdict and Mr Jenkins was formally acquitted of murder in February, 2006.

His first wife Lois divorced him after his conviction and moved to Tasmania with their four daughters. After Mr Jenkins’s release he married Tina, a nurse and mother of one, who wrote to him while he was in prison.

She sold her £1million mews home in Belgravia and the couple moved to Southsea.

A source said that Mr Jenkins first met Ms Diskin at a seminar on miscarriages of justice run by Barry Loveday, a reader in criminal justice administration at the University of Portsmouth.

The source added that Mr Jenkins had told Ms Diskin that her brother could stay with him if he needed a place away from media attention after his release.

A spokesman for Mr George said: ‘I am aware they are good friends and I can confirm they have spent time together since Barry’s release.’

Excerpts from a DailyMail article by Daniel Cochlin article headed The Odd Couple: Freed Barry George finds a place to stay… with his friend Sion Jenkins dated 30th August 2008

Another media article stated;

Mr George, who lives in Hackney, East London, is said to have spent a week on holiday with Mr Jenkins on the Isle of Wight last month.

He also stayed at the home Mr Jenkins shares with his second wife Tina in Southsea, Hampshire, for three days.

Last night, the Mail was told it was not a permanent arrangement.

Mr George, who has spent seven years in jail, still plans to move back to Fulham, West London, where Miss Dando was murdered.

Mr George’s spokesman, Surjit Singh Clair, said: ‘The men are friends, I can confirm that. I think the friendship started around six months ago and it was cemented when Barry came out.’

After his release, Mr George admitted he could not have shot dead Miss Dando on the doorstep of her Fulham home, as he was stalking another woman at the time.

Two weeks ago, the convicted sex attacker was stopped and searched by police after making several visits to the BBC Crimewatch presenter’s former home.

Excerpts from a DailyMail article headed Barry George find himself a friend in Sion Jenkins dated 1st September 2008

How Long Was Surjit Singh Clair Stirring Things Up For?

Surjit Singh Clair’s name came up in further media articles around this time, including one in which it was stated Barry George had visited his “murder scene twice;”

Last night George’s agent confirmed he had visited the murder scene twice since his release.

Surjit Singh Clair said: “Yes, it’s true Barry has been back to Gowan Avenue twice.

“In his mind he wants to clear what he says are the demons from his past.

“His supporters have also urged him to do it, saying it would be a healthy thing to do for him to help him move on with his life.

“Friday was a routine stop and search in Hackney, nothing more.

“Earlier he had been to Fulham to see a friend but wouldn’t tell me any more I’m afraid.”

Barry George: I’ve been back there twice dated 24th August 2008

There was also an article written by David Jones for the DailyMail in which Surjit Singh Clair had again stated Barry George had mentioned visiting his victims “grave a few times”.

David Jones also referred to receiving an “angry email” from Michelle Diskin Bates.

Excerpts from David Jones article read;

During the interview he gave (or rather sold for £80,000) to a down-market tabloid after his release, George insisted he was never fixated with the 37-year-old star, as the prosecution had alleged.

Yet if George wasn’t obsessed with Jill at the time she was murdered, he certainly is now.

He spends hour upon hour poring over books and websites about her  –  and, now, with a breathtaking lack of insight into the likely furore, he aims to travel 150miles from London to the West Country.

‘Barry has mentioned visiting the grave a few times,’ his spokesman Surjit Singh Clair told me this week.

‘It’s something he definitely wants to do. He just feels there’s a connection between them  –  they’ve been tragically brought together.’

George has also discussed his plans with his confidante, his sister, Michelle Diskin.

‘Barry spent eight years in jail for a murder he didn’t do,’ Mr Singh Clair said.

‘He’s become entwined with her life and she has played a huge part in his. He wants to exorcise Jill’s ghost, and say: “I don’t want you to think I hold any hard feelings against you.”

Regrettably, it is. George’s spokesman says he might request permission from Jill’s family  –  and if so, he could receive a surprisingly favourable reaction.

For with remarkable magnanimity, Nigel Dando said that he would not object to the visit. ‘It might give Mr George cause to ponder and reflect,’ he said, when told of George’s plans.

‘If he looks respectable and takes flowers, and perhaps goes with a friend or relative rather than slinking around on his own, then it wouldn’t look too bad. It’s his personal choice.’

Mr Singh Clair is a Midlands-based freelance journalist who was enlisted by the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation (MOJO) to promote George’s cause four years ago, when he was battling to overturn his murder conviction.

He brokered the £80,000 interview deal after George’s acquittal, and he is now among the trusted inner circle who proffer assistance to George…

Others in ‘Team Barry’ include his sister, who flits between London and her home in Cork, his careworn 72-year-old mother, Margaret, and an old friend named Robert Charig, who can’t work because he suffers a neurological complaint, and so has time to dispense sympathy and homespun advice.

Fringe members of the coterie include Sion Jenkins, who was cleared of murdering his own 13-year-old foster daughter Billie-Jo in 2006, after serving six years of a life sentence.

This week, Mr Jenkins denied reports that George has stayed at his Hampshire home, but admitted having met him and lent his support.

Meanwhile, a few weeks later, a 26-year-old woman complained to the police that a man fitting George’s description had pestered her as she served in an upmarket speciality tea and coffee shop in West London.

The most recent story surfaced only last weekend.

George was reported to have cycled seven miles across London in the rain to the HQ of Sky News, marched in unannounced and insisted on meeting the woman who interviewed him after his release  –  glamorous news anchor Kay Burley.

George’s people dismiss all these damaging claims as a concoction of lies and half-truths.

Their man was on a pelican crossing when he was stopped on suspicion of ‘casing’ cars in Hackney, they say. He has complained to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, and two of his support workers, who just happened to be watching, will be his witnesses.

In an angry email to me this week, Michelle Diskin claimed her brother was the victim of a media-driven plot designed to smear and intimidate him.

Jill Dando’s Killer Barry George & The Ghosting Of Eyewitness Julia Moorhouse #WhoKilledJillDando? (Part 19)

Julia Roberts

Witness Julia Moorhouse

On the day he murdered Jill Dando, killer Barry George was seen by Julia Moorhouse at around 12.33pm.

Julia Moorhouse said that Barry George had crossed the road to talk to her around an hour after he had committed his murder.

Excerpts from a Guardian article read;

Mrs Moorhouse said she had been standing on the corner of a street close to the murder scene at 12.30pm on April 26 when a man approached and started talking to her about the helicopters hovering overhead.

“He said they were police helicopters. He gave details of what kind they were. He appeared to have technical knowledge… I turned to go. He came with me. I did not expect that.

“The whole situation struck me as slightly odd. He mentioned the Territorial Army. I think he may have said he had done training or was associated with it… either as an instructor or something”

Excerpts by Nick Hopkins for the Guardian article headed Dando accused ‘set up alibi’ at health centre dated 15th May 2001

Excerpts from another Guardian article stated;

Ms Moorehouse described the man as being in his 30s, nearly 6ft tall, relatively heavy in build, paunchy and with very dark hair.

He was also wearing a bright yellow jacket.

The prosecution alleged that he had changed his clothes.

She said: “I was left with the impression that he might have had at some point a hare-lip or cleft palate at some time which had been mended.”

She added that she rang the police when she heard Dando had been attacked.

Excerpts from a Guardian article headed Witness ‘spoke to suspect after Dando shooting’ dated 14th May 2001

Uncle Mike Burke referred to a conversation he had with his nephew Barry George’s barristers William Clegg and Jeffrey Samuels and stated;

Uncle Mike Burke

Outside the courtroom I spoke with Mr Clegg and Samuels.

We discussed Julia Moorhouse, the women who described being spoken to by a man who could have been Barry approx an hour after Jill Dando’s murder.

I felt her description of the man was too like Barry to be coincidence, and as she reported the meeting to the police straight away on that day it sounded genuine.

We agreed the man she met probably was Barry but disagreed as to whether they met before of after he had visited HAFAD.

The Crown claimed before, which would support their case

Excerpts from Mike Burke’s book Mike’s Story: The Battle to Clear Barry George of the Jill Dando Murder first published in June 2011 – Source here

Barry George admitted he had spoken to Julia Moorhouse when he spoke to the media following his retrial.

As previously referred to in Part 18 of this blog series here, Mike Burke also highlighted this fact stating;

In their ‘World Exclusive’ he was quoted as saying ‘After leaving HAFAD I bumped into a woman who was later a prosecution witness and said I was stalking her…That was at 12.33pm…’

That was obviously a reference to Julia Moorhouse who he had always denied meeting.

Excerpts by uncle Mike Burke

One Of Umpteen Innocence Fraud Red Flags

Michelle Diskin Bates chose to ghost Julia Moorhouse and her evidence from a book she had published in 2018, preferring instead to refer to the actress Julia Roberts.

Yet she repeatedly claims;

When he was released from custody in August 2008, Barry George publicly stated he had met with Julia Moorhouse. He stated;

I walked with her for a bit and, from her perspective, maybe it was unwanted attention. But she didn’t make that clear.

It didn’t seem like she was telling me to go away.

If she’d told me to leave I’d have done so straight away.

That was at 12.33pm.

I know because just a minute before I’d made a call from my mobile to check how much credit I had left.

1985 – Following His Release From Prison Barry George Began Using The Alias Thomas Palmer, Going On To Meet Janice Dobbins & Her 13 Year Old Son David Dobbins, Along With Susan Coombe

On his release from prison for his February 1982 rape, Barry George ended up living in a bed and breakfast hostel called Stanhope Gardens Hotel, which was located in Kensington, West London. He also lived at the Conrad hotel in Gloucester Road under the alias Thomas Palmer, who was the name of an SAS soldier involved in the rescue of hostages from the Iranian embassy siege of 1980 (Source Here)

A media article stated;

Killer Barry George

Statements from Janice Dobbins, who is now dead but knew George in the Eighties when he lived at the Stanhope Gardens hotel in Kensington, were read to the court today.

At that time George called himself Thomas Palmer, the name of a real-life SAS hero.

Mrs Dobbins told how she was in the hotel TV room with other guests when “all of a sudden from behind the curtain a man jumped out wearing combat gear, a gas mask, a ski mask, a belt with shotgun cartridges and holding a small machine gun about 2ft long in both hands. I screamed and jumped off the sofa. He ran but I recognised it was Thomas. Everyone went mad and started swearing at him. He just laughed.”

She said George would regularly dress in combat gear and carry the gun around the hotel. He claimed he was a member of the SAS and had helped to free the hostages in the Iranian embassy siege of 1980.

George kept in touch with her after she moved to Fulham. “One night about 2am I was having drinks in the flat with friends when the window opened and a gun was pushed through into the living room,” she said.

“I saw a figure holding it and just knew it was Thomas. He was wearing a ski mask … Everybody screamed and panicked and the figure left.”

Mrs Dobbins continued: “I was aware he would go to Kensington Park, Hyde Park and Holland Park where he followed women.

He would be in my company and then just go off and follow women and I would not see him again until he was back at the hotel.

“This did not surprise me because he would often go up to women in the street and start chatting.

“He would hand out business-type cards and at one stage printed leaflets offering his services teaching English to Japanese girls.”

Excerpts from Paul Cheston’s article for the Evening Standard headed Dando suspect ‘leapt out with machine gun to startle hotel guests’ dated 12th June 2008

Another media article stated;

By 1985 he had collected several pieces of military equipment, including an imitation Heckler Koch machine gun, a starting pistol and a gas mask.

A friend he allowed into his room at a bed and breakfast in Kensington saw a third weapon, a polished silver pistol, carefully wrapped in tissue paper and kept in a shoe box.

This gun has never been found.

Barry George’s uncle Mike Burke stated;

Susan Coombe lived at an address which Barry also lived at in 1985.

She described how he had replica guns which he showed to people.

But she also said that there was a silver gun which he kept concealed in a shoebox.

She claimed that he admitted to her that he followed women to see if they were single.

Susan also confirmed that the photo of the man posing with the gun and gasmask was taken inside Barry’s home.

1986 – Barry George Crept Up On Janice Dobbins With A Gun In Her Pelham Street, Fulham Home, On Another Occasion He Also Fired A Handgun Into The Dobbins Home

A media article stated;

The police had found advertisements in his flat for deactivated weapons showing where they could be bought

A photograph of him wearing a gasmask and holding a handgun, finger on trigger was found by police.

There was a break in the gun exposing a spring.

That was said to show that he had an interest in altering guns.

Barry denied during police questioning that it was him in the photograph, and claimed the gun; a blank firing replica was stolen by his friend David Dobbins.

In evidence David Dobbins described an incident where Barry discharged a blank firing pistol at David’s mother’s house, frightening him.

Excerpts from uncle Mike Burke’s book Mikes Story: The Battle to Clear Barry George of the Jill Dando Murder published in October 2016

Another article stated;

A witness has told the jury in the Jill Dando murder trial that the alleged killer of the TV presenter once owned two guns.

David Dobbins, who said he was once a friend of the defendant, Barry George, claimed the alleged killer fired a handgun into his hallway while visiting.

“I was at my front door. I opened it. He came in and let it off. It was a surprise for me,” Mr Dobbins told the Old Bailey on Friday.

Mr Dobbins said he had also seen military equipment, including a pistol and imitation sub-machine gun, in Barry George’s room when they shared bed and breakfast accommodation in the 1980s.

Mr Dobbins, who was 13 when they were at the same B&B hotel in 1985, said George had been protective about his room.

He said he had also seen military equipment, combat clothing, webbing, a gas mask and knives in Mr George’s room.

Mr Dobbins said he was living in a basement flat with his family when Mr George, who also goes by the name of Barry Bulsara, fired the gun in the hallway.

He had opened the door and Mr George pushed his way in holding the firearm in his right hand.

He said that Mr George’s gun had blanks in it, but the defendant also showed him a box of live ammunition.

“He was trying to frighten us – playing some sort of prank. It was pretty scary.

“He was very possessive and would not let us touch it,” Mr Dobbins told the court.

Susan Coombe, who was at the same hotel at the time Mr George had stayed, remembered him showing two guns to residents in the lounge.

Ms Coombe said: “He said he was with the SAS. He showed us a card with a picture of him in a beige beret with a handgun and SAS emblem of a dagger and two wings.

“He did not like people in his room. He was very interested in guns. He would talk about guns all the time.”

Angela Gordon, told police how George approached her as she opened the door to her flat opposite his home and asked: ‘Do you live here?’ He allegedly told her he was in the SAS and asked to kiss her. Miss Gordon rebuffed his advances and fled into her home. A photograph of her car was later found on undeveloped film at George’s home.

Another woman, Amanda Scriven, claimed that George would follow her on his bike as she walked from Parsons Green tube station. He did it in a manner ‘designed to intimidate’ and refused to stop, even when challenged. Mr Laidlaw said: ‘On one occasion, he held a camera to Miss Scriven’s face and took pictures until she pushed it away.’

Mr Laidlaw said a woman named Claudia Casey was also targeted in the street by George. ‘She tried to get away from him by walking more quickly but he grabbed her arm and said, “But I only want to talk”. She was terrified and jumped into the passenger seat of a passing car and explained to the driver what had gone on.’

He walked with her and tried to impress her by saying “How are you?” in German.

In a dark stairwell outside her parent’s flat in Acton, George attacked her.

He clamped his hand over her mouth and pushed her arm behind her back.

Terrified she was going to suffocate, she pleaded with him to let her go, but he continued, forcing her to the ground and pulling at her clothing.

The woman, who is now married with two children, claimed she was raped.

The judge was told he assaulted her because he felt “lonely and rejected”.

George was convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to 33 months.

He served 23 before being released.

A media article stated;

Another media article stated;

Barry George’s uncle Mike Burke stated;

A media article stated;

Another article stated;

Make-up artist Fiona Maffeo said she endured seven years of harassment living in George’s street.

He once left a note on her car windscreen saying he had been watching her and she reminded him of a “child in a woman’s body”.

It’s No Mystery Who Killed Jill Dando! (Part 5)

Assassin Barry George

On the 26th of April 1999 Jill Dando (37) was murdered by sexual predator, serial stalker, rapist and assassin Barry George.

Barry George shot Jill Dando whilst she was on the doorstep of her home in Gowan avenue Fulham, which is in Southwest London.

A jury found Barry George guilty of his murder on the 2nd July 2001.

Murderer Barry George

Not long after Barry George was found guilty, he confessed to his murder in 2002.

In the same year he confessed to his murder, Barry George appealed his conviction but his appeal was dismissed.

However on the 20th June 2007 the fraudsters at the criminal cases review commission referred Barry George’s murder conviction to the court of appeal.

The court of appeal went on to deem Barry George’s murder conviction “unsafe” and ordered a re-trial.

On the 9th June 2008 he stood trial for a second time and on the 1st August 2008 Barry George was found not guilty.

A not guilty verdict does not equate to actual, factual innocence.

Less than two years after they referred killer Barry George’s murder conviction to the court of appeal, the fraudsters at the criminal cases review commission referred the murder conviction of killer Simon Hall.

The Truth Behind Actual, Factual, Guilty Killer Simon Hall & His & His Deceitful Enablers Innocence Fraud Phenomenon Scam blog series goes into some of the facts of this innocence fraud.

Michael Mansfield

Michael Mansfield

Michael Mansfield, who first represented killer Barry George during his appeal also represented killer Simon Hall.

Fibre evidence, which was one of the factors which helped convict killer Simon Hall, still links Barry George to his murder.

Gun shot residue matching the gunshot residue found at Barry George’s crime scene also still links him to his murder.

Michael Naughton

Michael Naughton, who campaigned for and represented killer Simon Hall when their innocence fraud was exposed in 2012/13, went on to write the foreword of killer Barry George’s sister’s book.

Michelle Diskin Bates

Assassin Barry George & his sister Michelle Diskin Bates

Michelle Diskin Bates, who appears to be a deluded fantasist similar to her killer brother, has gone on to align herself with numerous other dangerous murderers, including mass murderer, child killer and rapist Jeremy Bamber.

In August 2016 liar and fantasist Michelle Diskin Bates made the claim she was watching nighttime TV back in August 1985 – even though nighttime TV did not exist in the UK until 1986.

Michelle Diskin Bates stated here;

It was well after midnight on August 6th 1985 and I couldn’t sleep. Switching on the T.V., I absent-mindedly tuned into a news channel. We were living in Co. Cork, in Southern Ireland, and I was joyfully awaiting the birth of our first child who was already overdue, making me feel restless; that was why I was up and about at such an hour.

Becoming aware of a breaking-news story I began to listen in more closely. A siege was taking place at a farmhouse in England. The broadcaster relayed that five people were inside and there was great fear for their safety. As the story unfolded it became apparent that this was an older couple. A farmer and retired Magistrate, Nevill Bamber and his wife, June; their daughter, Sheila, and her six year old twin sons. Jeremy, their son, was outside with police who were trying to communicate with someone inside the house who had been seen pacing back and forth in front of an upstairs window and carrying a firearm. The reporter said that police were reluctant to get too close to the house for fear of causing that person to become more agitated, thereby, escalating the danger to the family. I watched for an hour or so but there was no resolution and, heavily pregnant, I became exhausted and had to go off to bed

Michelle Diskin Bates

When Barry George was released from custody, following his 2008 re-trial, he was placed under MAPPA (multi-agency public protection arrangements) restrictions due to his dangerousness, especially towards women.

Alfred George Referred To His Son Barry George As An Oddball

Alfred George

Excerpts from a 2001 media article headed Obsessive whose life of fantasy ended in deadly reality read;

Born on April 15 1960, at Hammersmith hospital, Barry Michael George was the youngest of his parents three children, and the only son.

Alfred, his father, was a lorry driver and special constable in the Metropolitan police.

He had met George’s mother Margaret in London and married her in Brook Green, Hammersmith, in July 1954, when she was 18.

George’s childhood was not easy.

His parents’ marriage was unstable and led to bitter divorce in December 1973, when Barry was 13.

Even then George had a fertile imagination, weaving fantasies around his favourite programme, Thunderbirds, which irritated his father, who believed his son was an “oddball” who had been “born naive”.

Excerpts by Nick Hopkins and Steven Morris for the Guardian headed Obsessive whose life of fantasy ended in deadly reality dated 3rd July 2001

Writer David James Smith stated in his book All About Jill, which was published in 2002, that “Alfred had been a bus driver in those days and in addition to being a prison officer, was also a fire officer and a special constable. He had been in the Army on National Service after the war”.

Mike Burke (Bourke) Barry George’s Uncle

Margaret (Barry George’s mother)

Uncle Mike Burke, a brother of Margaret’s, stated in his book;

I first met Barry in 1964 when Margaret brought him from London to the family house in Limerick for a holiday.

He was four and I was nine.

I thought that he was very spoilt by Margaret but he was an only son.

I next met him in 1973, when I moved to London.

Barry was now thirteen, his parent’s marriage had ended and his father had left for a new family.

He was attending Heathermount School ‘for difficult boys’, but would come home to his mother for holidays.

His sister Susan was also living at home in East Acton.

Barry and Susan were always bickering, as kids do. ‘

The terrible twins’ we would call them, though Susan was two years older than Barry.

He was very quiet at first, withdrawn, but he slowly came out of his shell.

I fixed up his old fashioned ‘High Nellie’ bicycle, and while the other kids in the street had modern choppers Barry could be seen doing quite impressive wheelies up and down Fitzneal Street.

He liked my David Bowie records, and my Honda CB 250cc motorbike.

‘Mike the bike’ he would call me.

He showed me around London, and he was quite streetwise.

His sister Michelle lived in Barnes with her father and his new partner Barbara, or Babs and their fierce little Chiwawa dog which kept Michelle’s boyfriends at bay.

It was a friendly lively household which I visited a few times; taking along some of my LP’s which we would play.

In late August 1973 Michelle borrowed my suitcase, went to Ireland for a holiday, liked it and stayed ever since.

Barry missed his father and Michelle, some say that he felt abandoned.

One evening around midnight he still had not come home, and his mother asked me to make some checks.

I went around to the public phone box and phoned his father in Barnes, but I was told that Barry was not there.

I then phoned the police and explained the situation to them.

Some time later Barry and his father arrived at the house, and there followed an interesting conversation between both parents at the front door as they complimented each other with regard to their parenting skills.

One morning in the summer of 1974 we were having an argument, quite nasty I suppose, as teenagers can be.

As I was walking to the kitchen Barry seemed to come out of nowhere and floored me with a kick.

He had been hiding, waiting in an alcove for me.

I was winded, and Barry immediately bolted for the front door and was well away before I could catch him.

He did not return to the house until late in the evening.

He lived at home for a time after leaving school but could not get on with his stepdad Eddie who though being an honest hard worker found it difficult to tolerate young people.

Barry managed to persuade the council to house him and everybody was happy again.

In 1977 I took a temporary job as a Security Guard, working with a collection of Australian and New Zealand backpackers and ex Rhodesian and South African soldiers at the Earls Court motor show.

We worked in close cooperation with the police who would back us up if hostile members of the public ignored the instructions of us ‘Little Hitler’s’.

One of my main tasks involved guarding Sir Donald Campbell’s 400mph + Bluebird record setting car and the new Four Wheel Drive vehicles on which the gorgeous Woolworth girls would daintily sit to the song ‘Who wants to be a millionaire’, every 30 minutes.

I was sick of that song.

I would also check visitor’s bags and briefcases with a sniffer device for detecting explosives etc.

Barry thought it was hilarious that I, a ‘Paddy just off the boat’ was selected as one of the ‘guards tasked to keep the royal fans in check when Princess Margaret performed the official opening ceremony.

Looking back I also find it a little surprising but I guess the police would have checked us all out by then.

Excerpts by Mike Burke from Mike’s Story: The Battle to Clear Barry George of the Jill Dando Murder published in June 2011

Sister Michelle (Michealina) Diskin Bates Re-Writing History

Michelle Diskin Bates

Michelle Diskin Bates, who was mentioned in Part 19o here is the oldest sister of Barry George.

Michelle and Barry’s sister Susan, who was born on the 5th of February 1958, passed away at the age of 28 after apparently having “swallowed her tongue during an epileptic fit”.

Uncle Mike Burke omits any reference to the tragedy of his niece Susan’s passing from his book and Michelle Diskin Bates stated in her book that her sister Susan “..had died in 1987 in an epileptic seizure”.

While Michelle Diskin Bates did refer to having mourned the loss of a house she once lived in, in Creighton close, White City, it is not known exactly what impact Susan’s passing had on either Michelle Diskin Bates or Barry George.

Although aunt Elizabeth did state “Barry never got over Susan’s death. He missed her terribly”.

Referring to killer Barry George, David James Smith wrote in his book on the passing of sister Susan Towler;

Susan later spent time in locked psychiatric wards.

She died in April 1986 when she choked after swallowing her tongue during a seizure, while in the early stages of pregnancy.

His sister Susan died in 1986 and his father returned from Australia for her funeral, which Barry did not attend.

His father had been home before for a couple of years and there had been sporadic contact between them, after no contact at all for eight years.

They had met at Michelle’s wedding in Ireland to which Barry had apparently hitchhiked.

Alfred had visited Barry while he was on remand in Brixton prison accused of rape and Barry had told him he had stopped when the girl said no.

His father terminated all contact with him again after that.

He didn’t want Barry around his daughters in his second family, he said.

He bumped into Barry in the street a couple of weeks after Susan’s funeral and noted the expensive looking camera around his sons neck.

Barry said he was keen on photography.

Barry had asked for some money, and his father had given him a fiver and they had parted.

They had not spoken again after that, although his father had written occasionally and sent birthday and Christmas cards.

Excerpts by David James Smith from his book All About Jill published in 2002

Why The Different Stories?

Michelle Diskin Bates told a different story to the story told by her uncle Mike Bourke regarding her father Alfred George and his partner Barbara/Babs.

Michelle Diskin Bates referred to living in Creighton Close in White City and Fitzneal Street in Shepherds Bush, but made no mention of Barnes.

Which is odd given the fact her uncle Mike Bourke made reference to his niece Michelle living “in Barnes with her father and his new partner Barbara”.

Barnes is a district in south London and part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Michelle Diskin Bates also didn’t refer to her uncle Mike’s previous statement on how Barry missed his father and Michelle. Nor did Michelle make any comment on Mike’s statement that Barry George had felt abandoned.

Instead Michelle Diskin Bates story reads;

Mum and Dad separated acrimoniously in 1967, eventually divorcing in 1973.

I was twelve at the time of separation, and we children stayed with Mum in the flats in White City.

Excerpt by Michelle Diskin Bates from Stand Against Injustice (Published in October 2018)

It is not known exactly why Michelle Diskin Bates chose to go and live with her father Alfred George and his new partner Barbara.

It is also not known in what year exactly Michelle moved in with her father and his partner or for how long she lived with them.

However by August 1973, at 18 years of age, Michealina George, as she was called back then, moved to Ireland.

She stated in her October 2018 book;

Not having lived in the UK since 1973, I hadn’t really been following the case about the senseless murder of a much-loved TV presenter; it was a crime that had taken place in London and I’d felt somewhat removed from it.

Michelle Diskin Bates from her book Stand Against Injustice

Although recently, Michelle Diskin Bates claimed on one of her social media accounts that she “..arrived in Cork in 1974”;

A media article from 2001 read;

“I lived with him up until he was 13, when I moved to Ireland.

“There was nothing odd or different about him then.

It wasn’t until I was older I realised Barry had disabilities.

“His problems are quite subtle but my sister Susan overshadowed him with her disabilities

“I suppose she had the limelight.

Barry was quiet and always very polite and well spoken”

Ms Diskin said she hadn’t seen her brother much over the 20 years they were apart but she did know he had problems with normal life.

Excerpts by Nicola Tallent article headed MY ‘BOYCHILD’ BROTHER DIDN’T MURDER DANDO; Sister’s support for killer George dated 2001

Michelle Diskin Bates also stated in her book;

Unfortunately, Barry did go on to acquire a criminal record.

He was convicted of indecent assault in 1981 and was given a suspended sentence.

In 1983, he was convicted of an attempted rape and was imprisoned for eighteen months, serving both sentences consecutively.

I visited him in prison during this period, but it was not a comfortable time for Barry.

I was incensed at his behaviour and let him know it.

However Michelle Diskin Bates had also stated that she saw her brother Barry George on a “rare” visit to London in 1988. Excerpts from her book regarding this read;

Having moved to Ireland, it was rare for me to travel back to London.

Fares were prohibitive, especially if you were travelling with children, so the next time I recall meeting up with Barry was in 1988 when I brought my two children to stay with Mum in London.

Sadly, Barry and I lost touch after this

Their uncle Mike Bourke made reference to his nephew Barry being at Michelle’s wedding in 1982, which their sister Susan also attended, along with their mother Margaret (Mike’s sister) and their father Alfred.

Michelle Diskin Bates omitted the fact her brother Barry George had caught the ferry over to Ireland to attend her wedding to Pat, which took place on the 31st of July 1982.

Michelle also omitted to mention her step-dad Eddie.

Killer Eddie Guilfoyle

The only Eddie mentioned in Michelle Diskin Bates book was the man who murdered his eight and a half months pregnant wife Paula Guilfoyle on the 4th of June 1992 – Eddie Gilyfoyle.

Jill Dando’s Killer Barry George & His Morally Duplicitous Liar Of A Sister Michelle Diskin Bates (Part 2)

Jill Dando

In 2016 the morally duplicitous sister of Jill Dando’s killer, Michelle Diskin Bates had a blog published in support of mass murderer, child killer and rapist Jeremy Bamber.

Michelle Diskin Bates blog read in part;

Michelle Diskin Bates

I watched for an hour or so but there was no resolution and, heavily pregnant, I became exhausted and had to go off to bed.

Awaking early I was anxious for news, hopefully of a rescue, so I put the News on immediately. The siege was over, police had stormed the house and five bodies had been found inside. I was heartbroken, a whole family! My heart went out to the young man who had waited all night long with the police for news of his family; this was not what he wanted to hear.

My own child was born a few days later and I became engrossed in motherhood. It was a real shock to hear, sometime later, that the son, Jeremy Bamber, had been arrested for the killings…how was that possible when he was outside during the siege and everyone knew that?

Night Time TV Did Not Exist In 1985

On the 6/7 August of 1985 Nevill and June Bamber were shot and killed inside their farmhouse at White House Farm along with their adopted daughter Sheila Caffell and Sheila (and Colin Caeffell’s) six-year-old twin sons, Daniel and Nicholas Caffell. All five family members were murdered by Jeremy Bamber, the adopted son of Nevill and June.

Dangerous psychopath Jeremy Bamber carried out his murders of his five family members the year before night time TV first began broadcasting;

Night NetworkNight Time and Night Shift were names given to the overnight (usually between 12 and 6 am) schedule of the ITV network in the United Kingdom. The first ITV company began 24-hour broadcasting in 1986, with all of the companies broadcasting through the night by the end of 1988.

Night Network

A few years before Michelle Diskin Bates fantastical lies in her blog, which she obviously did to shill for yet another guilty killer, Mark Newby, Jeremy Bamber’s solicitor stated here;

Whilst I am no Bible basher it is worth that remembering that in Exodus 20:16 it was said:

“You shall not bear false testimony against your neighbor” (sic)

Mark Newby

Around four months ago (June 2022) Michelle Diskin Bates spoke to two of mass murderer, child killer, rapist and coercive controller Jeremy Bamber’s deluded supporters here stating;

Thank you Philip and thank you Yvonne for suggesting this might be a good idea. So I’m going to start off actually talking about Jeremy because I have a connection to what happened to Jeremy in that well let me just set the scene okay um so if I just start with it was a hot August night and it actually was the 7th of August 1985 and I was at home in Cork in Southern Ireland and my first baby was due right then

She actually eventually deigned to make her first appearance about ten days later. But I came down to watch TV because I couldn’t sleep. I had this big bump that wouldn’t stay still. While I was watching TV there was a newsflash and it said there was a siege in a farmhouse in then UK. And at that time people probably will remember or some people will remember that there old enough that we didn’t have 24 hour news TV at that time

Erm what I did see they had some aerial shots over the farmhouse and you could see in that actually the police and where they were in their sort of cordon which was back away from the house Erm I decided anyway that I would stay up for a while I was watching a bit of drivel on TV and every now and again there was an update on the news and I found that very interesting

Did Michelle (11), Susan (8) & Barry George (6)Witness The ‘Shepherd Bush Massacre’?

(From left to right): PC Geoffrey Fox, 41; Det Con David Wombwell, 25; and Sgt Christopher Head, 30

Uncle Mike Burke stated in his book;

Sunday was a bore and I spent a lot of it walking around East Acton and Shepherds Bush.

I photographed the memorial at Wormwood Scrubs to the three policemen who were murdered there in August 1966.

Michelle, Susan and Barry were walking there on the day and Michelle saw the shot men lying on the ground and quickly got her brother and sister away.

She later told her mother how she saw the men lying there.

Or Is This Yet Another Of Michelle Diskin Bates Fantastical Stories?

Of course Michelle Diskin Bates didn’t state that she saw the shot men lying on the ground, like her uncle Mike had stated in his book. Fantasist Michelle’s story had grown arms and legs by the time she wrote material for her book. Michelle claimed;

Friday the 12th August 1966 was a day I would never forget. I had charge of Susan and Barry for a typical outing to a local park. I had chosen to take us all to the adventure playground in East Acton, which was near Wormwood Scrubs Prison and Hammersmith Hospital. This was my favourite park. After a few hours of scrambling around on the monkey bars, I gathered up my motley crew and we set out for the long walk home, spurred on by the lure of a hearty dinner which Mum would have ready and waiting for us. More important, of course, was getting Susan back for her medication. If she went too long between doses she could well start to fit, and if that happened while we were out I would be all alone to deal with it, whilst in charge of six-year-old Barry as well. Braybrook Street ran along the edge of this common, colloquially referred to as ‘The Scrubs’. The road curved almost in an ‘L’ shape from the prison walls to the playground. As we trekked home across the short grass along the boundary with the road, me herding my little flock and trying to keep us all together, we were surprised to hear what sounded like a car backfiring.

According to former metropolitan police officer Geoffrey Barton, who wrote and published a book on the case in 2017 (a year before Michelle Diskin Bates book was published), the shooting occurred at 3.15pm.

Excerpts from Geoffrey Barton’s book reads;

Friday 12 August 1966 was a hot and peaceful summer’s day. All was well with the world in Braybrook street in Shepherd’s Bush, west-London.

Just 13 days earlier and four miles down the road at the old Wembley Stadium, the entire population of the country had united to see the England soccer team beat West Germany 4-2 to win the World Cup, and the country was still basking in the reflected glory.

At around 3.15pm the silence was broken when Geoff Fox drove a Triumph 2000 saloon index number GGW 87C down the road with a couple of pals: Chris Head was in the front passenger seat and Dave Wombwell in the back. On their right they passed Wormwood Scrubs, the scrubland with all it’s football pitches, on the left they passed rows of 1930’s houses which made up the Old Oak Common Housing Estate. Many of these were occupied by the families of prison officers working at nearby Wormwood Scrubs prison, the high walls of which were 100 metres behind them.

Local residents later reported seeing the Triumph come up behind a Standard Vanguard estate car index number PGT 727, parked at the side of Braybrook Street, outside number 61, with three men inside. As the triumph stopped Head and Wombwell got out and walked over to the Standard and spoke to the driver through his car window. Suddenly, and without warning, the front seat passenger bent foreword, reached down deep into a hold-all at his feet and pulled out a German Luger pistol and shot Wombwell through his left eye, killing him instantly. Head ran back towards the triumph, but the gunman gave chase and aimed two shots at his back. The first shot missed, but the second hit him in the head, fatally wounding him.

Fox them attempted to drive away. Seeing this the passenger in the rear of the Standard got out and ran towards the Triumph as Fox struggled to turn it round. Snatching a .38 Webly service revolver from the hold-all, he shot Fox three times. As Fox died, his foot his the accelerator and he drove over the dying body of his pal, Chris Head. The two gunmen then raced back to the standard and the driver, unable to deal with seeing the bodies lying in the road, reversed off at speed, but not before his vehicle registration number had been taken down by a witness. Two minutes afterwards the silence had been broken it was replaced by a deathly hush…

So What Happened?o

With the football pitches of Wormwood scrubs on one side, houses occupied in the middle of the day only by busy housewives on the other, and the only business in the area being the Old Oak Primary School, most of the witnesses were young children. Some of them ran home to tell their mothers.

This group of woman and children were stunned by what had just happened. They struggled to piece together the event from the information they had, and considered what they needed to do next. Mothers called their children and took them indoors where they would be safer, and calls were made via the 999 system to the information room at New Scotland Yard.

Excerpts by Geoffrey Barton from Harry Roberts and Foxtrot One-One: The Shepherd’s Bush Massacre

Michelle Diskin Bates goes on;

Rounding the bend, our ears were assaulted by the screaming of tyres squealing and spinning as a car sped past us, travelling in the direction we had come from. I grabbed Barry and Susan by the arm to stop them running towards the commotion and looked out into the road. There, amid the pandemonium of shouts and screams, I saw two men. One was lying on the tarmac and the other was hanging out of the driver’s door of a stationary car, facing us. There was blood spattered on the road; both men were blood-stained and both were very obviously dead. At the time, I didn’t realise there was a third body just out of my line of vision behind the car. At just eleven years old, I felt ill-equipped to know what to do, but then who would know? This was not Chicago in the 1930s, this was West London in the 1960s, and this definitely wasn’t an everyday experience. I must get Susan and Barry away from here, I thought. I don’t know what will happen if they realise this is real. What shall I do?

The hot August sun beat down as I started trying to guide my charges away from the terrible tableau before me. Susan wanted to investigate further, and I was scared the shock would bring on one of her seizures. How could I get this wilful eight-year-old to obey me? If she dug her heels in, I’d never shift her. Then inspiration struck . . . “We can’t go over there, Susan, they’re making a film and we’ll get in the way. They’ll be angry with us if we muck up their movie.” Reluctantly, they both complied and trudged home with me. My legs were leaden from shock and I struggled with awful thoughts of what might have happened if we’d rounded that bend a couple of moments earlier. “Mum! Mum! You won’t believe what we saw today,” I said, when the others were out of earshot. She didn’t . . . not until the news came on the TV later that evening. ‘News Flash: three policemen have been shot dead in West London.’ “Oh my goodness, you were telling the truth. Those poor men.”
