Surjit Singh Clair Involved In Sending Racist & Threatening Letters & Attempting To Profit From His & His Co Defendant’s Faked Attack

During Part 3 of the Netflix docu series Who Killed Jill Dando? (at around 41:46) there is a brief clip of scammer Michelle Diskin Bates walking alongside convicted fraudster Surjit Singh Clair.

The pair of them are surrounded by photographers and reporters.

Surjit Singh Clair was involved with killer Barry George’s public relations spin campaign and acted as a spokesman. Read more here

Below are a couple of reproduced BBC articles detailing some of Surjit Singh Clair’s crimes;

Olympic triple-jumper Ashia Hansen has told a court the apparent race-hate stabbing of her ex-boyfriend affected her gold medal chances in Sydney.

Chris Cotter staged an attack on himself

Chris Cotter was stabbed in the face and back outside Ms Hansen’s Birmingham home and days later she received a threatening, racist letter.

But Birmingham Crown Court has heard that Mr Cotter, with two friends, stage-managed his own stabbing in a desperate bid to win back his former girlfriend.

Financial adviser Mr Cotter, 29, and friends, sales rep Surjit Singh Clair, 31, and heating engineer Craig Wynn, 29, are also accused of sending racist and “threatening” letters to Ms Hansen, an MP, and other black athletes.

The trio are also charged with trying to profit from the faked attack by selling the story to The Express for £6,000.

It is alleged that Mr Cotter had debts of about £25,000.

During an afternoon in the witness box, Ms Hansen said the events last spring had disrupted her training and left her unable to concentrate in the crucial months before the Sydney games.

Ms Hansen, who failed to qualify for the triple jump finals in Australia, told the court: “I couldn’t concentrate properly on parts of my training.

“I was injured anyway, but it was still very, very difficult to do what I was supposed to do. I was upset. I was training in tears.”

On the night of the attack in March last year, the athlete found Mr Cotter on her doorstep bleeding heavily from stab wounds.

Ashia Hansen found Mr Cotter bleeding on her doorstep

She told the court she felt sorry for him and they did resume their relationship. He later proposed to her but she refused.

The court heard on Thursday she had visited him in hospital where he warned her not to go home, saying it was a racist attack.

Mr Clair took her to a Walsall hotel and continued to act as her chaperone escorting her to and from the hospital and her home.

The athlete met Mr Cotter in 1994 and they lived together for a time but the relationship foundered in 1997 after she moved to Birmingham to be near her current coach.

She had also been introduced to Mr Wynn and Mr Clair through Mr Cotter on several occasions.

At the time of the alleged fake attack, she said the relationship was “on-off”. “It would only last two to three weeks and then we’d break up again.”

The court heard earlier that racist letters were also sent to Labour backbencher Jacqui Smith, and four athletes who were in training for the Sydney Olympics – sprinter Dwain Chambers, high jumper Ben Challenger, hurdler Tony Jarrett and Olympic heptathlete Denise Lewis.

Surjit Singh Clair wrote racist letters

All three men deny attempting to pervert the course of justice by falsely representing to West Midlands Police that there was a racially-motivated conspiracy to commit violent acts on black athletes and their immediate associates.

They also deny attempting to obtain property by deception by selling the story.

The events involving Mr Cotter from Plymouth, Mr Wynn, from Birmingham and Mr Clair from Walsall, are alleged to have occurred between 15 March and 18 May last year.

BBC article headed Hansen faces ex-lover in court dated 26th April 2001

A man who allegedly helped to stage a bogus racist attack on the former boyfriend of triple-jumper Ashia Hansen contacted a journalist within hours of the incident, a court has heard.

Surjit Singh Clair called Daily Express reporter Ian Gallagher as Chris Cotter received hospital treatment for stab wounds to his head and back, Birmingham Crown Court was told.

Mr Cotter, 29, of Plymouth, is charged with planning the attack on himself to win back Ms Hansen’s affections and pay off massive debts by selling his story.

The financial adviser spent 36 hours in hospital following the alleged attack on 21 March last year, which he claimed was carried out by a gang who objected to him going out with a black woman.

Mr Cotter, Mr Clair, 31, of Reedswood, Walsall, and Craig Wynn, 29, of Kingstanding, Birmingham, all deny conspiring to pervert the course of justice by alleging there was a racially-motivated conspiracy to commit violent acts on black athletes and their immediate associates.

They also deny attempting to obtain property by deception, by trying to sell the story to the newspaper.

Mr Clair acted as a driver for Ms Hansen and Mr Cotter following the alleged incident.

The court heard that the Express journalist received a call on his mobile phone, shortly before midnight on the night of the attack.

The call was from a source known to Mr Gallagher as Tom Carter, later identified in the dock as Mr Clair.

Mr Gallagher said he did not remember the call, but checked his voice mail the next morning and eventually spoke to Mr Clair.

The pair were in regular contact over the next day, the court heard, with 53 calls made or attempted between the journalist, Mr Clair and a phone at the hospital where Mr Cotter was being treated.

A story appeared in the Express three days after the attack took place.

Mr Gallagher told the court that the article was based on what he had learned from Mr Clair, although he said the racist element was later confirmed by a freelance journalist.

Mr Clair arranged an interview between Mr Gallagher and Mr Cotter at a Birmingham hotel, the court heard, with a view to another story appearing in the paper.

Mr Gallagher added that a payment fee had been discussed.

He said: “A figure of £6,000 was mentioned. Nothing had really been decided. There may have been more money if he [Mr Clair] could have arranged for an interview with Ashia Hansen.”

The jury was told that Mr Clair had provided other stories for Mr Gallagher in the past, and had been paid £4,000 for information in 1998.

Earlier, the court heard that Ms Hansen had asked Mr Clair if he would be able to provide her with a bodyguard after the alleged attack.

Niamh Horan On Fantasist & Innocence Fraudster Michelle Diskin Bates & Her Killer Brother – Prolific Sexual Predator & Offender, Serial Stalker & Con Artist Barry George #Netflix #WhoKilledJillDando? (Part 15)

Niamh Horan
Killer Barry George alongside his oldest biological sister Michelle Diskin Bates

Lack Of Due Diligence, MAPPA Restrictions & Unsubstantiated Claims

Writer Niamh Horan has today (1st October 2023) had an article published for the Irish Independent headed ‘My brother Barry George was cleared of Jill Dando’s murder, but he won’t be free until the real killer is caught’

The byline reads;

The sister of the man acquitted of killing TV presenter Jill Dando speaks of his fear over Netflix documentary and of his life in Co Cork

Niamh Horan stated that Jill Dando’s killer Barry George;

…was released in 2008 after being unanimously acquitted at a retrial

Niamh Horan

One factor Niamh Horan failed to highlight to her readers was that Barry George was released from custody in 2008 under MAPPA (multi-agency public protection arrangements) restrictions due to his dangerousness – especially towards women.

Niamh Horan stated of Barry George;

Today George lives in a quiet village in Co Cork.

He spends his days visiting shops, chatting to locals who have become familiar with him. And — until last week — he went about his business without much attention.

With the Netflix documentary, it seems that is about to change.

Niamh Horan

Michelle Diskin Bates is then quoted as stating;

It was always a risk.

We had to ask ourselves is the gain going to be bigger than anything we might lose?

Michelle Diskin Bates

Niamh Horan then stated;

Since the series began streaming, George,….. has been phoning his sister several times a day in panic

However Ms Horan does not substantiate her claim with any proof and Michelle Diskin Bates statement of “He contacted me straight away that day” suggests Michelle only received the one phone call from her brother.

Where is the evidence from Niamh Horan that “George, has been phoning his sister several times a day in panic”?

Michelle Diskin Bates is then quoted as stating;

He is looking over his shoulder because somebody took photographs of him in his village as he went to the doctor’s

Michelle Diskin Bates

The Netflix docu series did not begin streaming until the 26th of September 2023.

Two weeks before this – on the 12th of September – Michelle Diskin Bates made the following post on one of her numerous social media accounts;

Source here

On the 1st October 2023 Michelle Diskin Bates published the following statement on X, formally known as twitter;

Niamh Horan also wrongly stated in her article;

British barrister Michael Mansfield KC, once described as “the king of human rights work”, represented George at his retrial.

Niamh Horan

William Clegg represented Barry George at his retrial, not Michael Mansfield!

Niamh Horan went on to state of Michelle Diskin Bates;

Diskin Bates was living in Co Cork when a news report flashed on the radio.

It said a man had been arrested for Dando’s murder.

Her relief turned to horror when her brother was named.

Niamh Horan

As already stated in Part 8 of this blog series, which can be read here, some months before her brother committed his murder of Jill Dando, Michelle Diskin Bates had “signed” herself into a psychiatric facility.

This apparently occurred because her life had become “humdrum, tedious and unfulfilling”.

Michelle Diskin Bates stated;

Life became humdrum, tedious and unfulfilling.

I was a mental wreck, psychologically impaired.

I’d signed myself into the psychiatric ward a few weeks ago when I felt like my mind was imploding.

The young doctor who’d interviewed me to assess my condition had asked, “Michelle, are you suicidal?”

Struggling up through the pain and fog, I thought for a moment before I answered, “No, but if I go home, I will die!”

Excerpts from Michelle Diskin Bates book Stand Against Injustice published in October 2018

Michelle Diskin Bates moved to Ireland, from England in 1973.

Michelle has publicly claimed she only saw her brother 3 times in those 27 years, going on to claim she lost touch with Barry George completely by 1988.

A media article stated;

Killer Barry George

Statements from Janice Dobbins, who is now dead but knew George in the Eighties when he lived at the Stanhope Gardens hotel in Kensington, were read to the court today.

At that time George called himself Thomas Palmer, the name of a real-life SAS hero.

Mrs Dobbins told how she was in the hotel TV room with other guests when “all of a sudden from behind the curtain a man jumped out wearing combat gear, a gas mask, a ski mask, a belt with shotgun cartridges and holding a small machine gun about 2ft long in both hands. I screamed and jumped off the sofa. He ran but I recognised it was Thomas. Everyone went mad and started swearing at him. He just laughed.”

She said George would regularly dress in combat gear and carry the gun around the hotel. He claimed he was a member of the SAS and had helped to free the hostages in the Iranian embassy siege of 1980.

George kept in touch with her after she moved to Fulham. “One night about 2am I was having drinks in the flat with friends when the window opened and a gun was pushed through into the living room,” she said.

“I saw a figure holding it and just knew it was Thomas. He was wearing a ski mask … Everybody screamed and panicked and the figure left.”

Mrs Dobbins continued: “I was aware he would go to Kensington Park, Hyde Park and Holland Park where he followed women.

He would be in my company and then just go off and follow women and I would not see him again until he was back at the hotel.

“This did not surprise me because he would often go up to women in the street and start chatting.

“He would hand out business-type cards and at one stage printed leaflets offering his services teaching English to Japanese girls.”

Excerpts from Paul Cheston’s article for the Evening Standard headed Dando suspect ‘leapt out with machine gun to startle hotel guests’ dated 12th June 2008

Another media article stated;

By 1985 he had collected several pieces of military equipment, including an imitation Heckler Koch machine gun, a starting pistol and a gas mask.

A friend he allowed into his room at a bed and breakfast in Kensington saw a third weapon, a polished silver pistol, carefully wrapped in tissue paper and kept in a shoe box.

This gun has never been found.

Barry George’s uncle Mike Burke stated;

Susan Coombe lived at an address which Barry also lived at in 1985.

She described how he had replica guns which he showed to people.

But she also said that there was a silver gun which he kept concealed in a shoebox.

She claimed that he admitted to her that he followed women to see if they were single.

Susan also confirmed that the photo of the man posing with the gun and gasmask was taken inside Barry’s home.

A media article stated;

The police had found advertisements in his flat for deactivated weapons showing where they could be bought

A photograph of him wearing a gasmask and holding a handgun, finger on trigger was found by police.

There was a break in the gun exposing a spring.

That was said to show that he had an interest in altering guns.

Barry denied during police questioning that it was him in the photograph, and claimed the gun; a blank firing replica was stolen by his friend David Dobbins.

In evidence David Dobbins described an incident where Barry discharged a blank firing pistol at David’s mother’s house, frightening him.

Excerpts from uncle Mike Burke’s book Mikes Story: The Battle to Clear Barry George of the Jill Dando Murder published in October 2016

Another article stated;

A witness has told the jury in the Jill Dando murder trial that the alleged killer of the TV presenter once owned two guns.

David Dobbins, who said he was once a friend of the defendant, Barry George, claimed the alleged killer fired a handgun into his hallway while visiting.

“I was at my front door. I opened it. He came in and let it off. It was a surprise for me,” Mr Dobbins told the Old Bailey on Friday.

Mr Dobbins said he had also seen military equipment, including a pistol and imitation sub-machine gun, in Barry George’s room when they shared bed and breakfast accommodation in the 1980s.

Mr Dobbins, who was 13 when they were at the same B&B hotel in 1985, said George had been protective about his room.

He said he had also seen military equipment, combat clothing, webbing, a gas mask and knives in Mr George’s room.

Mr Dobbins said he was living in a basement flat with his family when Mr George, who also goes by the name of Barry Bulsara, fired the gun in the hallway.

He had opened the door and Mr George pushed his way in holding the firearm in his right hand.

He said that Mr George’s gun had blanks in it, but the defendant also showed him a box of live ammunition.

“He was trying to frighten us – playing some sort of prank. It was pretty scary.

“He was very possessive and would not let us touch it,” Mr Dobbins told the court.

Susan Coombe, who was at the same hotel at the time Mr George had stayed, remembered him showing two guns to residents in the lounge.

Ms Coombe said: “He said he was with the SAS. He showed us a card with a picture of him in a beige beret with a handgun and SAS emblem of a dagger and two wings.

“He did not like people in his room. He was very interested in guns. He would talk about guns all the time.”

Questions For Innocence Fraud “M25 Three” Killer Raphael Rowe About Michelle Diskin Bates Following The Netflix Docu Series Who Killed Jill Dando? (Part 14)

Raphael Rowe

Did Michelle Diskin Bates Really “Reach Out” To Killer Raphael Rowe Like He Claimed?

During Part 3 of the Who Killed Jill Dando? docu series, innocence fraud killer Raphael Rowe stated (at around 38:23);

A few years after Barry George was convicted his sister reached out to me

She was asking if I could help highlight the fact that her brother was wrongly in prison

I was at BBC Panorama at the time

But when I was 20 years old I was wrongly convicted of murder and a series of robberies

I spent the next 12 years in maximum security prisons

And Michelle was convincing, you know she sounded like my sister did when my sister was saying ‘help my brother’

Statements by Raphael Rowe via Part 3 of Who Killed Jill Dando?

Scammer Michelle Diskin Bates has made no mention over the years of having reached out to Raphael Rowe.

Why Did Raphael Rowe Omit To Mention Scott Lomax & Uncle Mike Burke?

However Michelle’s and killer Barry George’s uncle Mike Burke (also spelt Bourke) told a different story to the one told by Raphael Rowe.

Mike Burke made the following statements in a book, which detailed his involvement with “Justice4Barry” and Raphael Rowe;

2004
On September 5th I read an e-mail from Scott Lomax telling me about a BBC reporter, Raphael Rowe, who hoped to make a programme about Barry.

I made some discreet enquiries and I was told that ‘He is a good guy, genuine’.

I was happy with that recommendation and decided to contact him.

I phoned him the next day and we had a good long chat.

He was quite up to speed having looked at the websites and appeal court links.

I agreed to contact Barry and his solicitor to see if they might cooperate with a TV programme.

I later spoke to Pat Reynolds who was very enthusiastic when I mentioned Panorama, saying that Panorama could be seen as a turning point, the beginning of the end.

I next visited Barry on Friday October 8th.

I was suffering from a heavy cold, and family tensions were again running high, otherwise the visit went ok.

I got fish and chips and had quiet a miserable evening. ‘Why the hell am I doing this?’ I wondered, not for the first time.

The next day I went to a National Miscarriage of Justice meeting at Conway Hall in Red Lion Square.

When I arrived there were a number of people waiting outside.

I was a little early and waited some distance from them.

A good looking young woman approached me and struck up a conversation.

She quickly guessed that I was connected to Barry, which made me suspect that she was a reporter.

She told me that her husband was in prison for murder but that he was innocent.

To make it better she said that he allegedly had eaten the body of the victim.

I didn’t quite know what to make of her.

I met Hazel from MOJO and we chatted awhile.

The Hall opened and we went in.

I got a cup of tea and then I met Raphael Rowe.

Scott Lomax texted me to say that he had arrived.

He brought along copies of his book on Barry.

It was interesting to meet Scott and Raphael and I hoped meeting Raphael would help to maintain his interest in the case.

2005
I drove to London on Monday the 31st.

I had hoped to visit Barry on Tuesday and Margaret had promised that she would book it in good time.

But she waited until Monday before phoning to book the visit.

She then discovered that there were no visits allowed on Tuesdays.

I was going to a public meeting in the House of Commons on Wednesday and so I had to wait until Thursday to visit him which lost me another precious day’s holiday.

It was a short visit as his solicitor was also due to visit.

Barry was somewhat stressed out as a result.

He was concerned again that some of us would speak to the press.

He got agitated when I told him that Raphael Rowe was interested in the Cutting Edge video, which I had in fact already loaned to Raphael along with a video of the trial reconstruction.

He threatened to sue anybody who might use the Cutting Edge video.

I e-mailed Raphael Rowe asking about news on a documentary.

He replied that Barry and his solicitor had made demands that Raphael could not comply with.

Supporting Barry was often a struggle against the odds, as he seemed to see problems with everything we did or tried to do for him.

I felt that a good opportunity was in danger of being lost and I decided to keep in touch with Raphael in the hope of some development.

July 8th 2006

I recently had to have the hard drive replaced on my computer which cost me 205 Euro.

David James Smith is due to visit Barry early this month if all goes well.

Raphael Rowe is in America researching for a BBC documentary on Barry. He is consulting experts with regard to the single particle.

He phoned me up last week seeking Michelle’s details which he had mislaid.

On July 20 Andy Gardner phoned me. He told me he was now a freelance reporter.

Later Margaret phoned to say that the VO had arrived.

The next day I got a call from a Mail on Sunday reporter, Mr Rice who asked if he came to Ireland would I speak to him.

I agreed and he said he would be over the next day.

I then became a little concerned as I was due to visit Barry and wondered if speaking to the reporter would cause another row.

Fortunately he had also called to Michelle which I thought might take the flak off me.

The report appeared on Sunday and referred to the Panorama programme which was being made by Raphael Rowe.

It mentioned two jurors who were having doubts and who apparently were willing to appear on the programme.

It also mentioned that FBI agents criticised the Met Polices handling of the single particle evidence.

On Monday Raphael asked me not to discuss the programme with MOJO.

I replied that I had fallen out with them in 2001 due to the News of the World article.

But I feared that a last minute hitch might have negative consequences and so I texted Michelle asking her to urge discretion on MOJO.

She replied that they hadn’t known about the programme.

On Thursday August 3rd I again went to London.

It was a good trip, uneventful except for a poor man who finally cracked after over three hours in the ‘quiet’ coach listening to a hyperactive loud child.

On Friday I went to Mario’s café for breakfast.

Later Raphael Rowe phoned Margaret and I spoke to him.

Unknown to us on September 4th a Forensic Science Service report prepared for the CCRC dismissed the FDR evidence which dammed Barry as inconclusive.

In their opinion it provided no support for the prosecutions case that Barry had killed Jill Dando.

It would be another year before we became aware of that.

Raphael Rowe phoned me to say that the Panorama-George programme would be broadcast on September 5th.

I took a day’s holiday to watch it because as luck would have it I was on a late shift and I feared I would not get to see it.

At 21.00 I settled down to watch Panorama.

It began with Raphael saying to Barry over Margaret’s telephone ‘so you didn’t kill Jill?’ …’course not, replied a surprised Barry.

Then the photo of Barry which I got taken at Whitemoor was shown alongside the prison envelope in which it was returned to me after the prison refused to allow Barry to have it.

CCTV footage of Jill Dando on her last journey and a clip of 29 Gowan Avenue was shown, and Helen Doble’s 999 phone call was played.

Did Barry George Work For Tubitt Scaffolding For Cash In Hand

In 1981 killer Barry George duped Alan Warrener, who owned Tubitt Scaffolding, into sponsoring him.

Barry George had changed his name by deed poll to Steve Francis Majors and had allegedly posed as a stuntman.

It is not known how Barry George met Alan Warriner or if he worked for Tubitt Scaffolding around the time.

However in September 1981 Alan’s business Tubitt Scaffolding built the platform which was used by sexual predator and fraudster Barry George to roller state over four double decker buses.

Barry George had also concocted a convincing fake CV (curriculum vitae) in which he had pretended to have starred in the films Rollerball and Who Dares Wins.

The event took place in Nottingham’s Long Eaton Stadium on the 17th September 1981 and apparently over 5,000 tickets were sold.

Alan Warriner stated of Barry George;

The lad had convinced me he could do it.

He showed me photos supposedly of him doing stunts – and I honestly believed it was him.

On the day the conditions were so bad I begged him not to do the jump I thought he’d die up there.

When he finally got up on the ramp, he almost lost his nerve.

We were all terrified.

But he just pushed himself off knowing that there was no going back.

Statements by Alan Warriner of Tubbit Scaffolders – Source here

How Much Money Did Barry George’s Grift Earn Him?

It is not known how much money Barry George made from this event or if he ever attempted to sue anyone for the injuries he suffered after rolling stating over the four double decker buses.

On landing, after his roller skating stunt, it was found Barry George had dislocated his spine and had fractured a leg.

June Elvin

In March 1980 an actress called June Elvin, who had appeared in Ealing films and the police series Z Cars, was confronted by a man as she walked into the entrance hall of her block of flats in Barons Court, west London.

“He pulled open one side of the gates to the lift, I did the other,” she said.

“It was a tiny lift with only room for two. Halfway up he stopped the lift and attacked me. He tried to touch me, to put his hand up my skirt. I screamed and shouted and fought back”

The man fled when a friend of Ms Elvin’s heard the commotion and ran to help.

Though he was acquitted of this offence in June 1981, George was convicted of assaulting another woman.

According to reports of this case, George followed the civil servant and asked her out.

He also lived at the Conrad hotel in Gloucester Road under the alias Thomas Palmer, who was the name of an SAS soldier involved in the rescue of hostages from the Iranian embassy siege of 1980 (Source Here)

A media article stated;

Another media article stated;

Barry George’s uncle Mike Burke stated;

Excerpts from uncle Mike Burke’s book Mikes Story: The Battle to Clear Barry George of the Jill Dando Murder published in October 2016

July 1985 – Sister Susan George Married Edward Derek Towler

1986 – Barry George Crept Up On Janice Dobbins With A Gun In Her Pelham Street, Fulham Home, On Another Occasion He Also Fired A Handgun Into The Dobbins Home

A media article stated;

Another article stated;

Staking, Intimidation & Harassment Of Angela Gordon, Amanda Scriven & Claudia Casey

Angela Gordon, told police how George approached her as she opened the door to her flat opposite his home and asked: ‘Do you live here?’ He allegedly told her he was in the SAS and asked to kiss her. Miss Gordon rebuffed his advances and fled into her home. A photograph of her car was later found on undeveloped film at George’s home.

Another woman, Amanda Scriven, claimed that George would follow her on his bike as she walked from Parsons Green tube station. He did it in a manner ‘designed to intimidate’ and refused to stop, even when challenged. Mr Laidlaw said: ‘On one occasion, he held a camera to Miss Scriven’s face and took pictures until she pushed it away.’

Mr Laidlaw said a woman named Claudia Casey was also targeted in the street by George. ‘She tried to get away from him by walking more quickly but he grabbed her arm and said, “But I only want to talk”. She was terrified and jumped into the passenger seat of a passing car and explained to the driver what had gone on.’

Excerpts from a DailyMail article headed Dando’s ‘killer kept photos of other top female TV presenters among thousands of pictures he hoarded at his home’ dated 10th June 2008

Stalking, Intimidation & Harassment Of Margaret Milortholland & Fiona Maffeo

Margaret Milortholland said she was “petrified” when George stared at her on a Tube train. He then allegedly followed her asking her out. Months later he appeared outside Fulham home, saying, “Now I know where you live.”

Make-up artist Fiona Maffeo said she endured seven years of harassment living in George’s street.

He once left a note on her car windscreen saying he had been watching her and she reminded him of a “child in a woman’s body”.

Give It Up Michael Mansfield – The Grift Is Up! #WhoKilledJillDando? (Part 10)

Lone Gunman

During Part 3 of Who Killed Jill Dando? (at around 18:47) Michael Mansfield stated;

It cannot have been a lone gunman

Michael Mansfield

That’s exactly what and who it was!

The ill man, the loner

The infatuated

The psychopath

The disturbed

The obsessed

Barry George fit that category

Hamish Campbell

Michael Mansfield then went on to state;

He’d have to have had the loaded gun on him ready to fire

And be crouched in the front garden

So that she didn’t see that he was there

Well he’d have to be there for hours

Doesn’t add up

Michael Mansfield

Evidence demonstrated that it did add up;

Jonathan Laidlaw QC, prosecuting, said Dando’s death had been the result of the actions of “a loner, a man acting alone with no rational motive to kill”.

He said George, 48, had a history of complex medical problems and had told police he had a “personality disorder”.

Laidlaw told the jury the defendant would approach women and try to find out where they lived and what type of car they drove.

“Some of the witnesses provide evidence that Barry George, having discovered where they lived, also spent time waiting in the area and observing their addresses; on occasions, that he was present outside watching when they arrived back at their homes.”

Excerpts by Haroon Siddique for the Guardian article headed Barry George trial: Lone stalker killed Jill Dando, court told dated 9th June 2008

Eyewitness Susan Mayes

Susan Mayes picked killer Barry George out during a video identity parade.

A media article from June 2008 read;

Susan Mayes

The man accused of Jill Dando’s murder was seen ‘staring’ at her home just hours before she was shot dead on her doorstep, a court heard yesterday.

A neighbour of the BBC presenter told the Old Bailey she saw Barry George looking at the house that morning.

City trader Susan Mayes picked out George, 48, in a video ID parade 18 months later. ‘I saw the defendant,’ she told jurors yesterday. ‘I was certain that was the person I had seen.’

She said that when George realised she was watching him, he looked at the ground and tried to hide his face.

Miss Mayes was going to work around 7am on April 26 1999 when she spotted a ‘scruffy’ man on the opposite side of Gowan Avenue.

‘I saw the defendant,’ she told the court. ‘He was standing on the north side of the road next to a car that was double parked.’

She went on: ‘When I first noticed him he was staring at the houses on the left hand side of the road. I recall he was looking at the houses either side of him.

‘I remember him turning round to look at the houses on my side of the road.

‘As I got nearer to him he started cleaning his windscreen in a strange way. He was looking at the ground.’

She showed how he covered his face with his arm, and was not looking at what he was cleaning, nor using a cloth.

‘I thought this man doesn’t want to be seen. I thought it was odd.

‘As I drew up alongside him I was looking at him and carried on looking at him for a few seconds afterwards.’

Miss Mayes said the man was around 5ft 10in tall, stocky, of ‘Mediterranean’ appearance, with shoulder length black or dark brown hair.

She said he wore a dark suit, white shirt with an open neck and no tie. ‘I got the impression he was quite scruffy.’

Miss Mayes picked George out of an identity parade in October 2000.

This is George’s second trial for the murder. The prosecution alleges George was a loner who had obsessions with celebrities and guns, and a grudge against the BBC.

Excerpts by Fiona Barton for the DailyMail article headed Dando accused was ‘acting suspiciously outside her house hours before she was killed dated 17th June 2008

An Injustice In The Making

Michael Mansfield then stated during Who Killed Jill Dando? (at around 19:21);

I realised that this was an injustice in the making

Ain’t that the truth!

Who Did Fantasist Michelle Diskin Bates, Sister Of Killer Barry George, Think She Was Kidding With Her “We’re Just An Ordinary Family” Statement On Who Killed Jill Dando? (Part 8)

Michelle Diskin Bates

Bizarre Statement or Freudian Slip

During Part 3 of Who Killed Jill Dando? (at around 7:32) Michelle Diskin Bates stated

I took great heart from the fact that nobody knew that his surname was George

Michelle Diskin Bates

Michelle Diskin Bates was not known by the surname George in 2000.

She was married by this point and went by the name of Michelle Diskin.

Why did she choose to make this statement or was it another of her Freudian slips?

Impression Management

Michelle Diskin Bates then went on to state;

We’re just an ordinary family

These things don’t happen to ordinary people

Michelle Diskin Bates

Scammer Sandra Lean used the word “ordinary” more than once in an attempt at impression management, during her performance in channel 5’s Murder In A Small Town TV show.

Reality Appeared Extraordinary

In reality Michelle Diskin Bates had rarely seen her brother since 1973.

Barry George lived in London, England whilst Michelle Diskin Bates lived in Ireland, after moving there in 1973.

A media article from 2001 stated;

Ms Diskin said she hadn’t seen her brother much over the 20 years they were apart

Excerpt by Nicola Tallent article headed MY ‘BOYCHILD’ BROTHER DIDN’T MURDER DANDO; Sister’s support for killer George dated 2001

In August 2002, Michelle claimed here her brother had visited Ireland on holiday when he was 14 years-old.

Then in October 2018, Michelle Diskin Bates had stated that she had allegedly visited her brother in prison after he had raped a woman;

In 1983, he was convicted of an attempted rape and was imprisoned for eighteen months, serving both sentences consecutively.

I visited him in prison during this period, but it was not a comfortable time for Barry.

Excerpts by Michelle Diskin Bates from her book Stand Against Injustice published in October 2018

Barry George had raped a woman but he pleaded guilty to “attempted” rape.

Michelle Diskin Bates also stated she had visited her mother Margaret Bourke in 1988 and had allegedly met up with her brother on this occasion;

Having moved to Ireland, it was rare for me to travel back to London.

Fares were prohibitive, especially if you were travelling with children, so the next time I recall meeting up with Barry was in 1988 when I brought my two children to stay with Mum in London.

Sadly, Barry and I lost touch after this

Excerpts by Michelle Diskin Bates from her book Stand Against Injustice published in October 2018

Therefore if Michelle Diskin Bates had visited her brother in prison as she claimed, she had only seen him three other times in 27 years and lost touch with him completely by 1988.

Psychiatric Facility

Some months before her brother committed his murder of Jill Dando, Michelle Diskin Bates claimed she had “signed” herself into a psychiatric facility.

This apparently occurred because her life had allegedly become “humdrum, tedious and unfulfilling” as a wife and mother of three children.

Michelle Diskin Bates stated of this time;

These life events sound extraordinary as opposed to “ordinary”.

Why did Michelle Diskin Bates choose to pretend her family was “ordinary”?

How many “ordinary” families live like Barry George did, with his faeces all over his home – including on his bed?!

Furthermore Michelle Diskin Bates younger sister Susan Towler (nee George) had died in April 1986 during the early stages of pregnancy.

Michelle did not see her sister either!

It’s No Mystery Who Killed Jill Dando! (Part 5)

Assassin Barry George

On the 26th of April 1999 Jill Dando (37) was murdered by sexual predator, serial stalker, rapist and assassin Barry George.

Barry George shot Jill Dando whilst she was on the doorstep of her home in Gowan avenue Fulham, which is in Southwest London.

A jury found Barry George guilty of his murder on the 2nd July 2001.

Murderer Barry George

Not long after Barry George was found guilty, he confessed to his murder in 2002.

In the same year he confessed to his murder, Barry George appealed his conviction but his appeal was dismissed.

However on the 20th June 2007 the fraudsters at the criminal cases review commission referred Barry George’s murder conviction to the court of appeal.

The court of appeal went on to deem Barry George’s murder conviction “unsafe” and ordered a re-trial.

On the 9th June 2008 he stood trial for a second time and on the 1st August 2008 Barry George was found not guilty.

A not guilty verdict does not equate to actual, factual innocence.

Less than two years after they referred killer Barry George’s murder conviction to the court of appeal, the fraudsters at the criminal cases review commission referred the murder conviction of killer Simon Hall.

The Truth Behind Actual, Factual, Guilty Killer Simon Hall & His & His Deceitful Enablers Innocence Fraud Phenomenon Scam blog series goes into some of the facts of this innocence fraud.

Michael Mansfield

Michael Mansfield

Michael Mansfield, who first represented killer Barry George during his appeal also represented killer Simon Hall.

Fibre evidence, which was one of the factors which helped convict killer Simon Hall, still links Barry George to his murder.

Gun shot residue matching the gunshot residue found at Barry George’s crime scene also still links him to his murder.

Michael Naughton

Michael Naughton, who campaigned for and represented killer Simon Hall when their innocence fraud was exposed in 2012/13, went on to write the foreword of killer Barry George’s sister’s book.

Michelle Diskin Bates

Assassin Barry George & his sister Michelle Diskin Bates

Michelle Diskin Bates, who appears to be a deluded fantasist similar to her killer brother, has gone on to align herself with numerous other dangerous murderers, including mass murderer, child killer and rapist Jeremy Bamber.

In August 2016 liar and fantasist Michelle Diskin Bates made the claim she was watching nighttime TV back in August 1985 – even though nighttime TV did not exist in the UK until 1986.

Michelle Diskin Bates stated here;

It was well after midnight on August 6th 1985 and I couldn’t sleep. Switching on the T.V., I absent-mindedly tuned into a news channel. We were living in Co. Cork, in Southern Ireland, and I was joyfully awaiting the birth of our first child who was already overdue, making me feel restless; that was why I was up and about at such an hour.

Becoming aware of a breaking-news story I began to listen in more closely. A siege was taking place at a farmhouse in England. The broadcaster relayed that five people were inside and there was great fear for their safety. As the story unfolded it became apparent that this was an older couple. A farmer and retired Magistrate, Nevill Bamber and his wife, June; their daughter, Sheila, and her six year old twin sons. Jeremy, their son, was outside with police who were trying to communicate with someone inside the house who had been seen pacing back and forth in front of an upstairs window and carrying a firearm. The reporter said that police were reluctant to get too close to the house for fear of causing that person to become more agitated, thereby, escalating the danger to the family. I watched for an hour or so but there was no resolution and, heavily pregnant, I became exhausted and had to go off to bed

Michelle Diskin Bates

When Barry George was released from custody, following his 2008 re-trial, he was placed under MAPPA (multi-agency public protection arrangements) restrictions due to his dangerousness, especially towards women.
